Mary Star of the Sea + La Jolla Woman's Club Wedding

Theresa and Brian’s wedding ceremony at Mary Star of the Sea, followed by their reception at the La Jolla Woman’s Club was the perfect fall San Diego day. Mary, Star of the Sea is such a beautiful church, by far my favorite I have ever photographed. All that white gorgeous architecture is my dream and it was filled with such beautiful light - truly such a treat to shoot in there. And all the space right around it (hello white walls and gorgeous light!) allowed for so many photo opportunities and portrait locations. Their ceremony was so sweet - they didn’t do a first look before the ceremony, and seeing Brian’s face light up with his contagious smile when Theresa walked into the church was just the best. For their reception, La Jolla Woman’s Club was perfect. In their own words, Theresa loved “the romantic feeling you get when you are there. The gardens feel intimate and lush and you get this amazing coastal breeze off the coastline. The building is also on the Historic Landmark List for San Diego, so there's a quaint feeling to it, like you are in a different time period and I love that. The green colors pop when you look around.” Brian loved “the outdoor area and how it provides a variety of sceneries all in one location. The bog oak tree provides a Midwestern feel, the skyscape with the lawn provides a clean, elegant look and the cocktail area invites a fun energy.” All of that really comes through the images which is so satisfying! It was such a high-energy celebration and super fun party - everything they hoped for. I personally also loved capturing Theresa getting dressed and ready in her own home - she had this gorgeous sunroom that from a photographers perspective couldn’t have been better * heart eyes *. And being home and having their pup around for getting-ready was such a special way to start the day… then their adorable doodle met us after the ceremony for photos and was an excellent model!
