Building 177 Wedding

Working with Liz + Bryan over the last year has been incredible, and their wedding at Building 177 was one I was looking forward to for SO LONG. They are a photographers dream to work with - they kept me super in the loop and let me be pretty involved in the planning and trusted me fully. For their engagement shoot, we booked a RAD Airbnb in Joshua Tree which we were soooooo thankful we had, since it ended up POURING RAIN that entire day. That’s just an example of the level of preparedness and intention these two put into everything. They let me help pick out Airbnb’s for getting-ready, and this wedding was yet another example of how a cool getting-ready space can totally transform your gallery AND make the perfect location for first look + couples portraits! It adds a unique and personal touch to your gallery and makes your gallery different than others from a specific venue, which is fun. :) And during cocktail hour, it was important to them to get away from the party and spend some time in nature, so we headed to Sunset Cliffs for a few minutes of portraits. It was a perfect sunset evening and packed with people - but it was still so worth it to them to spend time just the two of them where they feel most comfortable (and the pictures were sooooo gorgeous, thank you forever to Mycalia of Lovely Bones Paperie for driving us so we didn’t have to worry about parking!). That’s just how they are - when you’re around them, you can just tell they are fully connected and their own little unit and always focused on each other. I love their love and their day was the perfect celebration of their partnership.

Some personal highlights were OBVIOUSLYYYYY the Airnbnb - I was crazy inspired and excited shooting in that space. Liz’s Sarah Seven dress… Sarah Seven is my favorite dress designer and I have been so excited to finally capture a Sarah Seven bride!!!! AHR’s Florals absolutely slayed - the florals were perfectly tasteful and understated and I loved the soft tones… gahhhh. UM ALSO THE LIVE BAND! From the very beginning of their planning, a live band was a must for them and I just can’t recommend this enough. A live band just brings an energy and excitement to a room that’s hard to explain. Everything came together so beautifully and it was such a blast to shoot. They picked Building 177 because of how much it screams California (which was important for them to show off for their out of town family and friends!) and how it combines incredible architecture with still being able to enjoy the outdoors (super important to them). Everything was thought out with impeccable intention and I felt so lucky to be able to capture this day! Building 177 is one of my favorite venues of all time and I can’t wait to be back there.

Another huge highlight for me was working with Ryan Green Films! I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to hire a photographer and videographer who work well together, have similar approaches and styles, and I just felt like everything ‘clicked’ when I was working with them. If you are reading this one one of my couples, I can’t recommend him enough!
