Darlington House Wedding!

Katrina and Will’s San Diego wedding at the Darlington House in La Jolla couldn’t have been more perfect. I had been SO excited and waiting to shoot at the Darlington House for years – it was one of the venues that made me so excited to be moving my business to San Diego. The Spanish-style architecture and details can’t be beat! All the different unique rooms with fun wallpaper and gorgeous light is a photographers DREAM. Not to mention it’s walking distance from the beach and in the heart of La Jolla so its definitely a venue that will impress out of town guests. The Darlington House is such a gem of a space and I can’t wait to be back there soon!

 The night before the wedding, Katrina surprised Will with probably the coolest wedding gift I’ve ever heard of. Will is a photographer; he does lots of travel / landscape / lifestyle type stuff. She rented a gallery in La Jolla and displayed a bunch of his work as a post-rehearsal dinner party – all their friends and family from out of town were there  to surprise him (and I went for a while too!). She tricked him into taking him out for drinks and instead brought him to the gallery and it was an incredible party. I can’t believe she pulled off this surprise for so long and that all their friends and fam kept it a secret too! They’re a really cool couple and I feel super lucky I got to be their photographer. 

They’ve got impeccable style and taste and their wedding day was incredible. Some of my personal highlights: the mismatched floral bridesmaid dresses, Katrina’s gorgeous bright spring bouquet, the reception details - pretty pink goblets, blue pattered napkins, personalized cookies… every detail was really well done and intentional. The first look on the library staircase, the romantic tent lighting, she wore her hair in a PONYTAIL. Her sweet heirloom moon broach that was gifted  to her by her mother in law the morning of the wedding. I could go on and on – so many sweet moments and cool details. Check it out! :D
