Joshua Tree Engagement Session | San Diego Wedding Photographer

Heather&Tanner ///

Photographers shootin' photographers... it's a good thing y'all. Heather is a wedding photographer herself (which means I was equal parts excited+nervous to shoot them). A love story 8 years in the making, these two have been together since high school. These hockey and theme park addicts are getting married this fall in Lake Arrowhead and it's going to be SO wonderful.

Shooting in Joshua Tree is always my favorite. It doesn't matter how many times I go there, it still feels new every time. Each time I find a different little part of the park to focus in on and every session turns out different. I always do a little happy dance when people say they want to do their shoot in J Tree - FOR REAL I will never say no. :)

Julian Engagement Session | Hannah&Robert

Hannah and Robert and my favorite kind of engagement shoot day. The kinda day where we spent hours exploring Julian and driving around before we started shooting, got a meal together - we didn't even start shooting until we had spent, like, 6 hours together. They have an easy kind of love that is fun to photograph and I can't WAIT to shoot their wedding this November.

Engagement shoot tip: When a session involves more than an hour drive, I like to drive together! It gives us time to chat and get to know each other en route (which is the biggest point of engagement shoots for me). I like to take our time, get there early and explore, and MOST OF ALL make sure my couples are well-fed and have had a drink or two if they want. Oftentimes the mornings before shoots are stressful and hectic, running around getting last minute things done, so things like a good meal or beverages get forgotten. HANGER IS REAL and I don't want anyone hangry during our shoots! I try to leave room in the schedule for those necessary+helpful things that often get forgotten on engagement shoot day.

TIFFANY&AARON | PREVIEWS.

Aaron + Tiffany / Joshua Tree, California.

I've known for a long time that this was going to be my favorite wedding and it didn't disappoint. Not only are these two friends of mine crazy stylish and gorgeous, but Tiffany is an insanely talented weaver (she made the ceremony backdrop herself) and space/installation designer. I don't even know what you would call that, but everything you see here she did herself. From the hand lettering of all the signs, designing/drawing of the invitations, creating the big hexagon shapes from scratch.. I know I'm not saying any of this right but she is so talented. I have some of her wall weavings in my office and you can find her work on her website  or Instagram.

You may recognize these two because I had the honor of photographing their proposal in Joshua Tree last February (and it was also featured on Love Inc. Mag!).

Shooting this wedding was like photographing the most epic styled shoot of all time, except it was real life, AND I got to hang out with my best friends all weekend. IT WAS THE BEST.I'll be blogging more about this wedding later, there's SO MUCH to share, but in the meantime, here's a lil preview of my fav day ever.

Val&Tim | Cozy Intimate Maternity Session

Tim and Val. I feel so connected to them. Last spring I got to photograph their intimate beach wedding and brewery reception, where they did a gender reveal and we all found out they were having a baby girl. It was such an intense and beautiful thing to share with them - it's so hard to walk away from something like that and not feel like best friends. I was SO thrilled to photograph their maternity session in a cozy Airbnb in San Diego! So stoked on these images and I can't wait to meet their baby girl who is officially now outside that belly!

TIM&VAL | Beach Wedding + Gender Reveal!

Tim and Val's story began in middle school - the kind of on-again-off-again love where they always ended up coming back to each other. They were planning their big fairytale wedding for later this year when they found out they were pregnant. They moved their wedding up so they'd be married before the baby came, planned a wedding in less than 2 months, and it was the most special and intimate day I've ever been apart of. A wedding on the beach with their closest family and friends followed by a brewery party where they did their GENDER REVEAL. The most incredible day full of celebration for their marriage and their baby girl on the way. Tim and Val - I am so excited for you and your growing family!!!!! It was such an honor to photograph such a special day. STILL CRYING OVER THESE!

planning and design: By Kimmie Lorraine / ceremony site: Coronado Beach / reception: Stone Brewery (Liberty Station)
