Photographers shootin' photographers... it's a good thing y'all. Heather is a wedding photographer herself (which means I was equal parts excited+nervous to shoot them). A love story 8 years in the making, these two have been together since high school. These hockey and theme park addicts are getting married this fall in Lake Arrowhead and it's going to be SO wonderful.
Shooting in Joshua Tree is always my favorite. It doesn't matter how many times I go there, it still feels new every time. Each time I find a different little part of the park to focus in on and every session turns out different. I always do a little happy dance when people say they want to do their shoot in J Tree - FOR REAL I will never say no. :)Read More
Hannah and Robert and my favorite kind of engagement shoot day. The kinda day where we spent hours exploring Julian and driving around before we started shooting, got a meal together - we didn't even start shooting until we had spent, like, 6 hours together. They have an easy kind of love that is fun to photograph and I can't WAIT to shoot their wedding this November.
Engagement shoot tip: When a session involves more than an hour drive, I like to drive together! It gives us time to chat and get to know each other en route (which is the biggest point of engagement shoots for me). I like to take our time, get there early and explore, and MOST OF ALL make sure my couples are well-fed and have had a drink or two if they want. Oftentimes the mornings before shoots are stressful and hectic, running around getting last minute things done, so things like a good meal or beverages get forgotten. HANGER IS REAL and I don't want anyone hangry during our shoots! I try to leave room in the schedule for those necessary+helpful things that often get forgotten on engagement shoot day.Read More
05.27.17. Jim+Alyssa /// These two met while running a marathon in Vegas. A marathon. I've run *one* half marathon, and I was in NO condition to meet the love of my life. But they did. They started out running the race together - "meet me at the finish line," they said. I can't get that line out of my head after I heard during their ceremony. I hear a LOT of love stories - and this one is probably one of my favorites.Read More
Tim and Val's story began in middle school - the kind of on-again-off-again love where they always ended up coming back to each other. They were planning their big fairytale wedding for later this year when they found out they were pregnant. They moved their wedding up so they'd be married before the baby came, planned a wedding in less than 2 months, and it was the most special and intimate day I've ever been apart of. A wedding on the beach with their closest family and friends followed by a brewery party where they did their GENDER REVEAL. The most incredible day full of celebration for their marriage and their baby girl on the way. Tim and Val - I am so excited for you and your growing family!!!!! It was such an honor to photograph such a special day. STILL CRYING OVER THESE!

Thank you so much to The Ruin Venue for letting us use their gorgeous space for this surprise proposal! This was one of my favorite days ever and my favorite thing I've ever gotten to photograph. Months of planning went into this surprise and Aaron wins all the fiancé points in the world for planning such a wonderful day for Tiffany. Friends came out to the venue to meet us with champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries, there was a party with their closest family and friends waiting for them when we got back from Joshua Tree... this was truly one of the most special days I've ever been apart of. I am so overwhelmed with good feelings about these images, I don't even have words. So I'm not going to try. Aaron and Tiffany, I am so excited for your life together and so honored to have captured this special event for you!Read More
10.08.16 /// Martha and Thad. This one was a special one. One of the first that come to mind when people ask me about my favorite weddings I've photographed. These two are so connected to one another; their love is so deep and pure and it's clear to anyone around them. I really don't think I've ever photographed two people who were so present during their ceremony - it truly seemed like they were the only two people on that island. Through my whole process working with them: our initial meeting, their engagement shoot... whenever I left my time with them I always said "omg they love each other SO much - that was so fun!" Their wedding was no different. Surrounded by a close group of local and out-of-town family and friends, these two said their vows on Orcas Island where Thad grew up. Family-style dinner where everyone sat together on long tables and served themselves of serving platters. Family and friends staying in big houses on the island together. It felt like a big family reunion and the best party of the year. The rain didn't stop them from wanting to adventure out to the lake and I am SO glad a little PNW drizzle (downpour) didn't ruin their day. Because it was perfect; and these are some of my favorite images I've ever created.Read More
